Distance Learning to Continue After Break

Dear Big Lagoon Families,

I hope that this message finds you and your families safe, well, and able to enjoy the holiday season.

I am writing to let you know that the Board has approved two additional weeks of distance learning for all Big Lagoon students following the winter break. Right now we are looking at a return to in-person instruction, for those who choose this option, on Tuesday, January 19th.  I know that this poses a challenge for some families and I encourage you to contact me directly to discuss how the staff of Big Lagoon can work with you to alleviate hardships caused by this continuation of distance learning.

As you may know, just today the status of Humboldt county was reduced from the purple or most restrictive tier in the state ranking system to red. The red tier is still serious and indicates a substantial community risk level. It is also important to note that our local public health officials have publicly stated that they strongly disagree with this determination (made at the state level), and encourage community members to continue to be vigilant in practicing preventative measures such as wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and washing hands. At Big Lagoon we will continue our commitment to keeping each other safe by following these guidelines as well as limiting visitors to campus.

Like all of you, I look forward to a time when this pandemic is behind us, when we can have all of our students back on campus and can once again enjoy the activities that we used to take for granted. I am hopeful that 2021 will be a better year for us all.

As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Take care,

Linda Row
